Measurement Methods

Thermography is one of the most important non-destructive diagnostic techniques, Figure 5 . Many technical problems manifest themselves in the form of heat generation, which can be detected with the aid of a high resolution infrared camera. The major advantage of thermography is the rapid, non-contact collection of temperature data.

If a photograph is taken at the same time, the temperature patterns present in a machine part can be assigned on site.

Thermography can be used for assessment in relation to numerous objects, such as in the case of:

  • non-contact monitoring of rolling bearings during operation
  • thermal monitoring of processes
